The famous pink liquid for upset stomachs. Pepto-Bismol relieves indigestion, heartburn, nausea and diarrhoea in one bottle, making it a smart one for the medicine cabinet and the holiday bag.
How it works
Bismuth subsalicylate coats the stomach lining, calms irritation and has a mild antimicrobial and anti-secretory action that helps settle diarrhoea and nausea.
How to use
Adults and children 16 years and over. Take the dose on the label, repeated as directed up to the daily maximum. Shake well before use.

Side effects
May temporarily darken the tongue or stools, which is harmless. Ringing in the ears can signal too much, so stop and seek advice if it occurs. A full list of possible side effects is in the patient information leaflet supplied with the medicine.
Cautions
Not for under 16s. Avoid if allergic to aspirin or taking anticoagulants, and check with a pharmacist if pregnant, breastfeeding or on other medicines. See a doctor if diarrhoea lasts more than 48 hours, or sooner with fever or blood in stools. Always read the label.
