- Start off by breaking off about 45 to 50 centimeters of floss.
- Wind most of it around your middle fingers, and leave a small piece to work with.
- Hold the floss tightly between your thumbs and index fingers.
- Slide the floss gently up and down between your teeth.
- Guide the floss carefully at the gum line to avoid hurting your gums.
- Curve the floss around the base of each tooth, reaching below the gum line to remove plaque.
- Use a clean section of floss for each tooth to avoid spreading bacteria.
- Don't forget to floss the back side of your last tooth.
- Once you're done flossing, rinse your mouth with water or mouthwash and dispose of the used floss.
