Product information

Norgeston keeps you from getting pregnant. We call it a "mini-pill" because it holds only one hormone: progestogen. Why does this matter? If you breastfeed, smoke, or deal with high blood pressure, pills with estrogen might not suit you. Norgeston steps in to give you a safe, trusted way to take control. Norgeston works by thickening the fluid at the neck of your womb. Sperm hit this thick wall and cannot swim through to reach an egg. It also thins the lining of your womb. Even if an egg makes it through, it finds no place to land and grow.

How to use

You swallow one pill a day. You must take it at the exact same time each day.

You get a strict three-hour window. If you take the pill more than three hours late, your shield falls, and you might fall pregnant.

You take Norgeston straight through. When you finish one pack, you start the next the very next day. You leave no gaps. If a strict three-hour window feels too tight, you might look at other mini-pills that give you a 12-hour window. But Norgeston relies on levonorgestrel, a tried and true ingredient that women have trusted for years.

Tests show that when you follow the rules perfectly, fewer than one in 100 women fall pregnant in a year. But you must keep time. If you slip and take it late, or miss a pill wholly, that risk climbs fast.

You need a doctor to write a script for Norgeston. This lets us look at your health and make sure this pill fits your body right.

Main Ingredients

Norgeston holds 30 micrograms of levonorgestrel. It gives you a steady, daily way to block pregnancy. Norgeston isn't right for everyone, and you must know the facts before you start. If anything lacks clarity, tell our team. We will walk you through it.

Side Effects & Cautions

Like all pills, Norgeston can bring unwanted shifts to your body. The most common changes happen with your monthly bleeding. Your bleeding might come late, come early, spot between weeks, or stop wholly.

Other common signs, showing up in more than 1 in 100 women, include:

  • Feeling sick

  • Headaches

  • Mood swings

  • Sore breasts

  • Weight shifts

Rarely, serious trouble can strike. If you feel a sharp, tearing pain in your lower belly, get medical help straight away. This could mean an egg grew outside your womb (an ectopic pregnancy). Read the paper leaflet in your box to see the full list of signs.

Long-Term Use

You can take Norgeston for years. Because it lacks estrogen, it does not push up your risk of blood clots like other pills can. If you take it for a long stretch of time, your doctor will still check on you to see how you feel and ensure it still does the job you need it to do.

Can you take it while pregnant?

Stop taking Norgeston the moment you know you are pregnant.

However, if you just had a baby and breastfeed, Norgeston fits perfectly. It does not harm your milk flow or hurt your child.

Can you drink alcohol?

You can drink alcohol. It does not wash out the pill's strength. But keep a clear head—if you drink too much and throw up within two hours of taking your pill, your body loses the medicine. You will need to take another.

Other Drugs

Some drugs clash with Norgeston. They break your shield. Epilepsy drugs, HIV treatments, and a plant called St. John’s Wort can wash out the pill's strength and let a pregnancy slip through. Tell your doctor about everything you swallow.

A note from our pharmacists. If symptoms persist, worsen or keep returning, speak to our pharmacist, your GP, or call NHS 111. Keep all medicines out of the sight and reach of children. In an emergency call 999.
